GOD IS UNPREDICTABLE

Day 4 -- A Wild Encounter -- Elijah Meets God in a Whisper -- 1 Kings 19:9-18

The kids learned that a prophet learns about God's unpredictable yet faithful nature when he climbs a mountaintop and experiences a great wind, an earthquake, a fire, and a gentle whisper.

"Hi. My name is Christy and my favorite part of VBS is preschool crafts!"

GOD IS UNCONTAINABLE

Day 3 -- A Wild Rescue -- Paul and Silas's Night in Prison -- Acts 16: 16-34.

The kids learned that even when Paul and Silas are thrown in prison, God's message can't be contained for long.

GOD IS UNMATCHABLE

Day 2 -- A Wild Stand -- The Fiery Furnace -- Daniel 3:1-29. The kids learned that three friends make a stand for the true God in spite of being threatened with death.

Wildwood Forest VBS ~ DAY 1

GOD IS UNDEFEATABLE

This week at church is Vacation Bible School. We have a SUPER director and an AWESOME crew of helpers. I am helping with registration, keeping track of station change times (they even let me have a whistle for this!), and I am also taking pictures of all the fun.

Day 1 -- A Wild Battle -- Gideon's Fight -- Judges 7. The kids learned that a man named Gideon discovers God's undefeatable power when his tiny army defeats an enemy thousands strong.

Care Net Walk for Life

Allie raised the money; the rest of the family did the walking.

We had a great time walking for 2 miles for a great cause. The local crisis pregnancy center ~ Care Net ~ held its annual Walk for Life to raise money so that more can be done to help mothers with unexpected pregnancies to CHOOSE LIFE!

Allie was involved with Children's Honor Choir activities all day, so she was unable to participate in the walk. (By the way, Allie just received official notification that she made it into Children's Chorale again next year. Looks like we'd better start saving for the trip to Orlando!)

Can you feel my pain??

Once you see the videos, you'll understand why I had several possible titles for this post including:

"A great way to begin summer vacation...."

"And she's not even 2 yet........"

or,

"You've got to be kidding me..."

Savannah's melt down began minutes after walking in the door after picking the kids up from their last day of school. I still have not figured out what set her off, but being put in her high chair was CLEARLY not acceptable to her.

Some of you are probably thinking, "Now why in the world would I post such a thing to my blog?" Well the answer is twofold. First - I want to be able to show Savannah in a few years her less self-controlled days, and second - a reminder to me that God is gracious when every day doesn't turn out like this!

After she threw the cracker on the floor, I calmly and patiently lifted her out of the high chair and gently stood her on the floor. To which she responded by throwing herself down on the floor and carrying on some more.

This is out of character for Savannah, as she is usually so smiley and so pleasant, BUT the few times she is frustrated with something, she has made her position crystal clear. Oh, the lungs on this child!

We are blessed!

Usually the few moments right after we arrive hone from church are hectic as we are trying to change clothes, get kids fed and clean up from the breakfast mess that was left in our rush out of the house.

BUT on Sunday, we were able to snap a few photos of some very happy kids!


Timothy is very handsome in his spring attire.


He matches especially well with his daddy.


So much love and kisses to Savannah from Sarah and Allie.

Something Big Dance Recital

That was the name - Something Big -- of the dance recital. The Bible verse under the picture on the front of the program:

Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; His greatness no one can fathom." Psalm 145:3

Once again I was amazed.

Not by how beautiful Lindsay and Sarah looked, although they did. Not by the darling dance numbers, although they were. But rather I was amazed at the clarity of the presentation of God's Word in the middle of a dance recital.

Julie Mizell and her dance studio, Beautiful Feet, has honored God through their costumes, through their music and through their message. Out of 45 dance numbers, most had explicit Christian lyrics. In between each dance number a portion of Scripture was read by an elderly man with the most amazing radio voice I have ever heard. This recital was not mainly about dancing - it was mainly about Christ! Oh, for more business owners (and others - including myself) to have the boldness and love for Christ that Julie Mizell demonstrates through her dance studio.

We could not video tape during the performance, but have ordered a DVD and I am hopeful I can post a portion of the dances when I receive it.

Here are a few pictures of Lindsay and Sarah before the recital. This was their ballet costume. For their jazz routine, they replaced the poofy white skirt with some silver capris.

When my mom was here, she attended one of the girls' practices. Here the kiddos are practicing their ballet dance to Angus Dei .

A garden of beautiful faces......

This photo shoot was totally orchestrated by the kids. Surprisingly, Timothy and Savannah were both compliant and stayed in their appropriate pose as the girls screamed, "Get the camera, mom - quick!"

A good year for tulips

The small flower bed in front of our home was bursting with tulips this year. The weather conditions were near perfect -- no late snow or horrible winds to destroy them.

There are a few daffodils and other perennial plants scattered throughout. I make no claims to having a green thumb, so I was quite pleased with the result this year.
